Image search vs face search
Both start from a photo, but they answer different questions. Reverse image search finds where a picture was posted. Face search tries to find a person. Here is what that means, and why we only do the first.

Reverse image search: where is this picture from?
Engines like Yandex Images and Google Images compare your picture with pictures they have indexed and list the pages showing the same image, including crops, resizes and re-uploads. That is how you trace a clip back to the original video, or a photo back to the creator's own post. It finds pictures, not people.
Face search: who is this person?
Face search engines measure the face in your photo and look for other photos of the same face anywhere online, including pictures that have nothing else in common. That can reveal someone's real name, workplace or private accounts. Used on a stranger, or on a performer who keeps their real life separate, it can cause real harm.
Why this site only does image search
Our job is helping you find a clip's source and a creator's official profiles, the pages they chose to make public. Image search does that. Face search does something else, so we leave it out, and we ask you not to upload photos of people who haven't agreed to it.
Questions
- What is the difference between reverse image search and face search?
- Reverse image search looks for other copies of the same picture: the same photo, crop or video frame posted elsewhere. Face search tries to find other photos of the same person, even completely different pictures. One finds where a picture came from; the other tries to identify someone.
- Why don't you offer face search?
- Because it can identify people who never chose to be found: someone in the background of a photo, a private person, or a performer who keeps their real identity separate. Finding the source of a picture does not need it.
- Do I need face search to find a clip or creator?
- Almost never. Clips and creator photos are shared over and over, so a frame or a screenshot usually matches a public copy that names the creator. Start with the image search above.
- Is my image stored?
- Nothing is sent until you pick an engine. Google receives your image straight from your browser. Yandex only searches by link, so for Yandex the image gets a private link on our server that stops working after one hour; the file is deleted within a day and never shared or listed.
- Is this reverse image search free?
- Yes — free, with no sign-up and no limit on searches.
