Which one? A frame from an anime or hentai episode: trace.moe. A drawing, doujin page or fan art: SauceNAO, then IQDB.

Engines came up empty? Ask us to find it: describe the clip and our AI agents search for it.

How to find the sauce

  1. Use a clean frame. Pause on a clear shot and crop out subtitles, channel logos and the black bars of a video player.
  2. From an episode? Use trace.moe. It matches the frame against anime episodes and shows the title, episode number and the minute it appears.
  3. A drawing or doujin page? Use SauceNAO, then IQDB. They search art sites and image boards and link the artist and the original post.
  4. Still nothing? Try a different frame or the uncropped picture. Reposts are often cropped, flipped or recoloured, which hides them from the engines.

Why three engines

Each one has its own index. trace.moe has indexed anime episodes frame by frame, so it can tell you the exact scene, but it knows nothing about drawings. SauceNAO covers Pixiv, art sites and doujin databases, and IQDB covers the big image boards with their tags. Between them, almost any picture that has been posted publicly can be traced.

Only search for adult content. Sexual content involving minors is illegal in many countries whether it is drawn or not, and it has no place here.

Looking for a real creator instead? Use the clip source finder or the creator search.

Questions

What does "sauce" mean?
It is internet slang for "source": the original anime, doujin, artist or post a picture or clip comes from. Asking for the sauce means asking where to find the full thing.
Which engine should I use?
A frame from an anime or hentai episode: trace.moe, which shows the title, episode and timestamp right on this page. A drawing, fan art or doujin page: SauceNAO first, then IQDB, which search art sites and boorus.
Why does trace.moe say there is no close match?
trace.moe only knows anime episodes, so a drawing or a doujin page will not match. It also struggles with heavily cropped, flipped or edited frames. Try SauceNAO for art, or a cleaner frame from the episode.
Can I search a GIF or a clip?
Take a screenshot of one clear frame and search that. A frame without subtitles, logos or motion blur matches best.
Is my picture stored?
Nothing is sent until you pick an engine. Then your picture goes straight from your browser to that engine (trace.moe, SauceNAO or IQDB); we never receive or keep it.
Is this reverse image search free?
Yes — free, with no sign-up and no limit on searches.
